Kolkata, 10th March 2018: Match Indian Poker League (MIPL) promotion done by Raj and Shilpa Shetty Kundra’s Viaan Industries Ltd received huge success in its season 1.

The major purpose of starting the league was to lessen the aspect of luck from poker and establish it as a game of skill, to bring it to the category of good sport like the others.

The success of the first season has led them to organise and announce the commencement of the second season. This season the match will be hosted by the City of Joy – Kolkata.

The first season was hosted by the City of Dreams – Mumbai in November 2017. Last season had seen seven city-based teams competing against each other with Harman Baweja owned Team Mumbai All Stars eventually emerging as the champions of poker.

Numerous changes have been introduced in the 2nd season. Change in the format of the league and inclusion of three more poker teams has been the major modification. This season MIPL will be one day event rather than the two-day event witnessed in the first season.

The three city-based new teams added are Pune Kings, Haryana Hawks and UP Indians making the total number of participating teams as 10. Team Goa Kings has been rebranded with net set of owners as Team Goa Lions.

The winner team will get the chance to represent Team India at the Match Poker Asia Nations Cup which will be organized at Bangkok in April.
